A Flutter By Lands

This is actually the second encounter in which I was contacted by a butterfly The first was in Illinois. She was on my walkway in front of my home. She appeared in a video I made. I named her jasmin, fed her sugar milk and set her free at the end. The above video is my taping of a monarch in Arizona, there are 7 black lines, including the body on one side and six identical on the other wing. That's a total of 13. In my count. What's yours? This video is from 2008.

Huge Bull Snake Kills Bunny

This was a surprise moment on the show. As a broadcaster who had decided to non-intrusively photograph the beauty of the pond. at the time, I had not thought I would ever witness something like this. How absolutely naive of me. As a matter of fact, I recall the very moment before I turned the camera to focus on this. I was concentrating on pretty dragonflies when I saw the bunny arrive and I had become acquainted with the bunny from previous mornings and I immediately turned the camera on him because, I thought, he was so adorable, that I even mentioned that to the audience at the very moment the snake snapped and coiled around this bunny.

I lost all professionalism at that moment and started to scream, as if I could stop what was already in progress. The snake wrapped around this bunny so tightly, so fast, the bunny never even had a chance of surviving it. It was quick, and although probably very painful. Nature made sure the suffering would not last long. As you can see, in less then a minute, the bunny is lifeless. Luckily I had turned off the microphone and almost stopped the camera, but I kept shooting for the show but turned away quite shaken by the sudden change of landscape and sharp feeling of loss.

Waiting to Jump

I thought it was a cool morning show, watching the quail take flight off the garden wall, the snakes and lizards and bunnies and birds, all very active this time of year. I'm glad we had the opportunity to take these pictures, because I really think that they are posing for us. It's their time to shine.

ThePond's JungleBoogie Will End LIVE Broadcast

Of course, the summer will come to a close and the wild animals that frequent the ponde will reroute, migrate and or take place in hibernation, so the LIVE Broadcast will end officially on August 1, 2009. But, fear not my animal loving friends, the videos will remain on Youtube forever, as long as there is a Youtube, there wiull always be a DrQandtheGang.

The Road Runner Returns

I get to see the road runner while they are taking a break from the hunting and racing around to catch food. He probably catches plenty of food by hanging out nearby. That is no little chickadee. No siree.
